June ALYOF goal: the quilt back!

Those 30-day months are tricky! But just under the wire for my June A Lovely Year of Finishes goal (and right before a big thunderstorm rolled in), I finished piecing the back of my new bed quilt. You can see the front and the fabrics I used here.

Hooray for A Lovely Year of Finishes...this is one of those projects that could have lingered forever because it was for me and didn't have a concrete due date!

Now to call the machine quilter and get this puppy (front and back) handed off!

June Goal: Piece the Back!

Almost 3 years ago, in August of 2011, right after my second baby was born, I finished a quilt top for my bed--one that I'd bought the fabric (mostly Kaffe prints) for in 2006. All I needed was backing, and then I'd be set.

This spring, I got motivated to finish this and use it on our bed. I decided to do a simple pieced backing to make it reversible--after all, if this was a quilt that took some eight years to make, I might as well make it extra functional so I didn't grow tired of it too soon! :)

Back in March, I purchased this beautiful blue Kona solid and some  quarter yard cuts of Kaffe Fassett prints.

Now it's June, and my goal is to (start and) finish piecing the back for my quilt for my June ALYOF goal so I can get it quilted. With baby #3 coming in August, finally completing this quilt that I was working on when baby #2 arrived seems appropriate!
